2020 Democratic Presidential Nominee Weekly Power Rankings - December 30, 2019
This list looks at who I believe currently has the best chance of winning the 2020 Democratic Party nomination for President. Only notable individuals who have announced they are running are included. I am not a political expert, so don’t take this too seriously. Feel free to provide feedback.
Notes for This Week:
- We are 35 days away from the Iowa Caucus.
- It looks like we may be stuck with the five candidates (Biden, Sanders, Warren, Buttigieg, and Klobuchar) that have already qualified for the seventh primary debate on January 14th. The qualifying deadline is 11 days away, and there hasn't really been any polling done during the holiday break. It's going to be an uphill battle for Yang and Booker (who have made the donor threshold) to gain enough qualifying polls to be on the stage. Steyer is two polls away and just under the donor threshold. It should be noted that Bloomberg has met the qualifying polls threshold, but he is not taking any donations.
- President Trump's impending impeachment trial might play a big role in the Democratic primary race. Senators Sanders, Warren, Klobuchar, Booker, and Bennet will likely have to take time away from the campaign trail to act as jurors in the trial.
