2020 Democratic Presidential Nominee Weekly Power Rankings - November 6, 2019
This list looks at who I believe currently has the best chance of winning the 2020 Democratic Party nomination for President. Only notable individuals who have announced they are running or have formed an exploratory committee are included. I am not a political expert, so don’t take this too seriously. Feel free to provide feedback.
Notes for This Week:
- We now have less than three months until the first primaries and less than a year until the general election.
- Speaking of elections, did you know there were some last night? Democrats scored major victories in states like Kentucky and Virginia.
- Beto O'Rourke dropped out of the race on Friday, marking the biggest dropout of the primary season. O'Rourke started his campaign as a frontrunner, including raising $6 million in the first 24 hours after his announcement to run. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep up the excitement, sliding down in polls and fundraising. He recently has been polling as low as 0% in some national and early state polls. However, there are still plenty of O'Rourke supporters (he has polled at 4% nationally as recently as late October), so we'll have to see how those pieces of the pie are split up amongst the other candidates.
1. Joe Biden

Notes: Warren released her plan to pay for "Medicare for All" that includes a wealth tax to help pay for it.
3. Bernie Sanders

Notes: In what might look like a move of desperation, the Harris campaign closed shop in New Hampshire is focusing on Iowa. Given her slide past Buttigieg to 5th place in national polling, it might be warranted.
6. Andrew Yang
Previous Ranking: 6 (-)Credentials: Entrepreneur
Notes: Yang seems to have plateaued after his surging, now consistently polling 2 - 3% nationally. He also had his first interview with his wife.
