2020 Democratic Presidential Nominee Weekly Power Rankings - March 11th, 2020
This list looks at who I believe currently has the best chance of winning the 2020 Democratic Party nomination for President. The list only includes major candidates who are still in the race. I am not a political expert, so don’t take this too seriously. Feel free to provide feedback.
Notes for This Week:
- Last week, Elizabeth Warren dropped out of the race, but has yet to endorse a candidate.
- Yesterday was Super Tuesday II, and Biden did just as well as last week. He won Idaho, Michigan, Mississippi, and Missouri. Sanders has only won North Dakota, and Washington is too close to call at this time.
- Biden's victory and growing lead has sparked calls to unify around the candidate, which included a surprise endorsement from former candidate Andrew Yang.
Power Rankings
1. Joe Biden
Previous Ranking: 1 (-)Delegates: 846
Credentials: Vice President of the United States (2009–2017); U.S. Senator from Delaware (1973–2009)
Notes: Biden won big in Mississippi (81% with 89% of precincts reporting) and nabbed some victories from states that Sanders maybe should have won (like Idaho). The future looks bright as well, as Biden leads in polling for pretty much every upcoming primary.
2. Bernie Sanders
Previous Ranking: 2 (-)Delegates: 684
Credentials: U.S. Senator from Vermont (2007–Current); U.S. Representative from Vermont (1991–2007); Mayor of Burlington, Vermont (1981–1989)
Notes: It was not a super Tuesday for Sanders yesterday, and things are looking rough ahead. There are still 733 delegates available in March, so he has a reason to stay in the race for the comings weeks.
3. Tulsi Gabbard
Previous Ranking: 4 (+1)Delegates: 2
Credentials: U.S. Representative from Hawaii (2013–Current); Honolulu City Council Member (2011–2012); Hawaii State Representative (2002–2004); Major in Hawaii Army National Guard (2003-Current)
Notes: The Future Fox News Contributor is still hanging around.
